Make a difference by teaching local children how business works! You'll be surprised at how easy and rewarding it is. All you need is an enthusiasm for kids - Junior Achievement will provide the training, lesson plans, and the engaging classroom materials. The classroom teacher provides the support and discipline.

How much time will it take?

Just 30-45 minutes a week once a week for 5 weeks! You can make your own schedule!

Exactly what will I be doing?

  • Help students understand the world around them; from what it takes to be a good family member to being a good citizen of the community.
  • Use hands-on, age-appropriate activities to relate their schoolwork to the real world.
  • Talk about the skills the students will need including interviewing, filling out a job application and deposit slip, and calculating profit.
  • Enrich the curriculum with your own experiences.
  • Have fun!

Am I qualified? Take this simple test to find out.

  1. Do you believe every child should have a chance to succeed in life?
  2. Do you think every child should stay in school?
  3. Would you like to make a difference in the life of a child?
  4. Do you want to help support local schools?
  5. Are you a little afraid to try?

If you answered yes to any of the questions, even the last one, you could make a terrific volunteer in Junior Achievement's in-school programs. We understand that it can be a little scary the first time you walk into the classroom, but once you see how eager the kids are to hear about your experiences, you know you're going to do just fine.

What else do I need?

  • Provide your own transportation.
  • Be available during school hours.
  • A desire to make a difference!
