Walking in Dreams

"Have you ever woken up from one of your dreams and thought “WTF was that?”

Well, yeah. Most mornings...

I read an article a couple of days ago: What You Should Know About Your Dreams. There were several points about it that I took issue with, starting with the first item: "You don’t walk in dreams."

I was pretty sure that I walk a lot in my dreams. I also skim (a lot, when I want to), occasionally soar, never fly, and rarely run. Running is extremely difficult and always feels like I'm limping through mud.

The article claims: "Next time you’re dreaming, look down. Chances are you’ll be floating or flying. This is because your brain doesn’t recreate the physical sensation of your feet on the ground in your dreams."

So, I thought, OK. I'll do that. And, last night, I had the chance (my dreams go lucid fairly often. I can't control much, but I _can_ (and do) look around and enjoy the scenery).

Last night I was dreaming and remembered this article. I looked down. There were my feet. On the ground (actually, it was a wooden floor). I was wearing a pair of navy and electric blue tennis shoes with yellow laces. Cool. I was also walking.

I double checked. Yes, my feet were on the floor. No, they weren't hovering above the floor. Yes, I was definitely walking.

Scratch one dumb theory about dreams.

Also: I looked up "walking in dreams" to see if anyone else shared this goofy theory. What I found was different goofy theories on the symbolism of walking in dreams. Huh.

"When you are walking in a dream this means that you are looking for the hidden truth that exists inside your psyche. This dream scene has a positive meaning, because you are taking action, and looking for the reasons of your depression, or you are looking for the meaning of your life."

"Walking in a dream may suggest that you are making slow and steady progress towards reaching your goals in life or in finishing a project; or may suggest you are confident and without fear in where you are going and what you are doing in life."

Personally, I think it means I'm going somewhere else. That's what it usually means IRL too.

I tend to take a fairly literal view of dream interpretation.

They were nice shoes, though.
