Twitterings - April 2009

These are my Twitter entries for April.

  • April 1 is not my favorite day of the year. Still, I always enjoy checking out google.com and thinkgeek.com today. They work hard for this. Apr 1st

  • A sentiment I can agree with. OH: I'm tired of the culture of 'No'. Apr 1st

  • My sister is in town for 4 days of Training sessions. We're meeting her (and a coworker) in The City tonight for dinner. Should be fun. Apr 1st

  • Dear man on the train platform, bouncing (not jogging) in place. It's 07:15. Could you do that later? And somewhere else. Apr 2nd

  • I'm 30min into a 'required' 90min meeting that pretty much has no relationship to my Job. I hope the Company is getting its money's worth Apr 2nd

  • 50 people in the room. At least 16 laptops. Most of the laptops open. I hear keys gently clicking. How many people are paying attention? Apr 2nd

  • Some people appear totally focused on laptops. Why are they here? Why am _I_ here? The "joys" of mandatory meetings. Can't mandate value. Apr 2nd

  • Company TWiki upgraded to 4.2.4 last night. All sorts of bugs crawling out of the woodwork today. Some real (filed). Some user-related. Ugh. Apr 3rd

  • In the Mall yesterday, I discovered I simply had to have a Hallmark "Gotta Hop" bunny. He makes me laugh. Watch video! http://bit.ly/CavX0 Apr 5th

  • Trying Nambu, the new Twitter client for Mac OS X. So far, I like everything except the "dynamically changing" compose area. Apr 8th from Nambu

  • Hummingbird flitting around the bottlebrush bush as I got into my car this morning. A gray day suddenly got brighter. Apr 9th

  • Commuter train fairly empty this morning. Spring break? I'll enjoy it. Apr 9th

  • Have you seen FlyakiteOSX? This is the cutest thing, esp. if you're a Mac user. Just enter name, no passwd. http://osx.portraitofakite.... Apr 9th

  • I don't enjoy "puzzle"-style questions. I don't care about "how many barbers are in the US?" But I do enjoy solving real code mysteries. Apr 9th

  • I like when someone asks "Why does my page look like this?" or "Why is this different in Firefox vs IE"? Or just "Help! How do I do this?" Apr 9th

  • @twitter has started to use the Roulette Wheel of Technical Support. "Based on your request, we think one of these things might help". Nope. Apr 9th

  • Typo of the Day. I meant to type "after all" and managed to type "afetralol". I kinda like it. Apr 10th

  • Change to Twitter API broke my reader software (pyTwerp); "since" param no longer supported. Perl filter to the rescue. Still, irritating. Apr 10th

  • "Flemish". Delightful unrhymed verse by Caroline Knox at poems.com. Still Life with Strawberries. -- http://ur1.ca/38db (via @Morning_Porch) Apr 10th

  • Enjoyed reading "The Psychology of Twitter, Part 2" by John M. Grohol. http://tinyurl.com/c2vh6l ...socializing on a vast, unheard of scale. Apr 11th

  • "...If you would not say it out loud-because no one in your real life would care-don’t say it on Twitter. " #endearingnarcissist Apr 11th

  • Our favorite diner does a terrific bowl of fresh-cut fruit. Strawberries, bananas, pears, apples, oranges, melon. Sometimes grapes. Yum! Apr 11th

  • Humans had crab Louie salad for supper. Cats were offered leftover crab. Most said "Eh". Squirrel said "Ooooooooooo. Som'mores? Nomnomnom." Apr 11th

  • @jagosaurus Yegads! We nice introverts must stick together. (#INTJ) Apr 12th in reply to jagosaurus

  • @jsjohnst I would choose Perl, partly for history (mine, since '95) partly for modules, libraries, system calls, partly for community, docs. Apr 13th in reply to jsjohnst

  • Wishing that Mac OS X stored keyboard prefs for user, not hardware. I had to reset pref to "Disable caps lock" due to new laptop hard drive. Apr 17th
