Weekly Wrap-up 2008_52

The weather was rainy and cool.

We had a couple of nice rain storms. I went to bed with the door to the screen porch open so I could listen as I fell asleep.

Then rain turned to chill. There was SNOW in parts of the Bay Area (but not where we live), frost in others. A co-worker had ice on his car in the morning.

I bought my sister a giraffe scarf from Squishable.com for Christmas.

We now have pillows behind the couch. One of the cats tends to fall asleep on the back of the couch and then, sometimes, he rolls over in his sleep. Pillows turn Thud! into Thoompf.

A woman at the diner had a great sweater last week. It's red, with a brown bear knitted into it. The bear's claws are overstitched with straight stitches and he's wearing a scarf, wrapped several times around him and then hanging (3-D) off at the bottom with real fringe. So Cute!

Practicing Discardia - We went through kitchen drawers and pulled out kitchen tools we've never used and never will. We've put them a box to donate.

I set more of our household bills to paperless billing. That will be three or four fewer envelopes a month.I also canceled three magazine subscriptions that just take up space and paper.

We replaced our 25 (or more) year old electric skillet with a new, 15" Presto model. It had 53 5-star and 19 4-star reviews at Amazon.com. People say it heats evenly (a lot of other brands have reviews that say they don't.)

I had a lovely end-of-year. I worked half-days (from home) on four days. The rest have been Company or personal holidays. Delightfull!

New Years' Eve dawned foggy but cleared by 10 pm. It was nice and clear at midnight. Fireworks!

This fortnight I read Resenting the Hero, a delightful fantasy by Moira Moore (first in a series); Magic Lost, Trouble Found, also a delightful fantasy, by Lisa Shearin; Eggs in Purgatory, first in a new mystery series by Laura Childs.

In between and around the rest, I've had nearly enough naps and oodles of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. I've chatted with my sister and found topics to twitter.

Onward and Upward into 2009.
