Weekly Wrap-up 2008_33

The weather was lovely. Warm but not hot. Light wind, clear skies.

Raven's dental appt was last week. They did one extraction. Canines treated, not pulled! Now we have to learn to brush and apply "anti-plaque gel."

Lots of TWiki work with Rich. We're pushing the envelope with FOREACH, SEARCH, IFDEFINED and CALC. Some very interesting results, balanced by some very frustrating problems. Think of it as a Learning Experience.

I made several updates to my TWitter Reader. Now I'm running it every 5 minutes. And I only datestamp on the half hour.

I also set it up to run from the machine at Work if necessary (not all the time).

cfcl.com went off the air for 8 hours on Wednesday. Nothing we could do about it remotely. Ugh. (This was my reason for setting up the Twitter Reader to run from Work.)

Bsc

My copy of book #1 of "The Baby-Sitters Club" graphic novels, drawn by Raina Telgemeier, arrived this week. It's so well done. I've ordered the other three. Go Raina!

Speaking of "cartoons"... "Everyone" in Twitter is using Faceyourmanga to make a Manga avatar. I won't replace my Twitter mage but I did make an avatar. Actually, I made two; I didn't really like the first one.

Commute Annoyances: Caltrain is usually a perfectly acceptable mode of transportation. And then, there are the times when something goes wrong. I can understand mechanical failures or accidents. But on-purpose delays caused by train personnel are really disturbing.

Early in the week, a conductor decided to punish a trainload of commute-time passengers because one passenger hadn't succeeded in validating his 1-ride ticket. We were delayed for half an hour while she called the police, the police arrived, and the "discussion" ensued.

Petty dictators annoy me.

This week I read Feast of Fools, vampire fiction by Rachel Caine (8/14).

In between and around the rest, I've had nearly enough naps and oodles of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. I've chatted with my sister and found topics to twitter.

Onward and Upward.

Don't you think you are getting too addicted to twitter ;-)

You say that like it's a bad thing. :)
