Weekly Wrap-up 2008_27

The weather was mostly nice but the fog rolled in on Thursday. The 4th was completely socked in.

Rich and I both worked from home on Thursday. That makes the long weekend feel even more relaxing.

We went out to lunch on Thursday and I had the largest pile of onion rings I think I've ever been served. No supper Thursday night!

The Camry needed a smog check for registration renewal. That's so much easier now with everything computerized. We can renew on the Web without mailing anything.

We took it down to Quality Tuneup on Thursday and had lunch while we waited for it to go through the process. We passed the check. Toyotas are good for that.

I did lots of TWiki work this week

  1. I redid our Breadcrumbs in TWiki. The default for a subweb is something like
    CFCL TWiki >> Projects/Arti >> WebHome
    now (using BreadCrumbsPlugin) we have
CFCL TWiki >> Projects >> Arti > WebHome
The > vs >> is an artifact but Rich kinda liked it so I'll keep it.

  2. I put our TopicTree code into our Shared topics so it's standardized. I also added a subwebs tree at Rich's request (tripping over a couple of gotchas in FlexWebListPlugin).

  3. I improved our home TWiki Blog code, based on magic in the Blog code at

  4. I built a Twitter Reader — a TWiki front end for my Twitter feed. (weblog entry coming rsn.)

  5. I learned about the "Topic Preferences" per-page settings. This is a very cool trick that allows you to set preferences for a topic that don't show in the Edit or Raw window.

  6. Last but certainly not least, I learned how to sort TWiki lists (using JavaScript). (another weblog entry coming rsn...)

Failwhale Dark Tee Shirt

Speaking of TWiki, I also completely re-worked our twikifriends Twitter feed. We're now using pyTwerp. I have a lot more control. I will be writing this up real soon, too.

My FailWhale shirt arrived. :) I love Twitter but that didn't stop me from buying the shirt. I got the black one.

Unlike previous years, we didn't get to aany fireworks shows this 4th. The Stanford show was canceled due to construuction on the campus. And Friday night was so foggy, we couldn't see anything from our house. We could, however, HEAR things. PoppopofrizzleBOOMfrat poppapoppapoppa Squeeeeeeeee Bang!

Mezzaluna spent the evening under the headboard in the bedroom. Bebop spent the evening under a chair in my office.

This week I read ... something. Nothing memorable. I started one book that just didn't grab me. Some weeks (and books) are like that.

I wrote a lot of code this week. I stayed up till 3am Friday night writing code!

In between and around the rest, I've had nearly enough naps and oodles of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. I've chatted with my sister and found topics to twitter.

Onward and Upward.
