Weekly Wrap-up 2008_14

The weather continues chilly and windy. On Tuesday morning I saw frost on rooftops as the train went by. The pinwheel we have installed in front of the house has been spinning too fast to see any colors.

I had a meeting on Tuesday (a day when I usually work from home) so I switched my second telecommuting day to Thursday this week. That gave me two work-from-home days in a row. The end of the week was very relaxing, but Monday - Wednesday was tiring. (It's a 70 min. commute each way).

Speaking of Work... The Company has a tendency to do crazy internal marketing schemes. This week's scheme involved scattering hundreds of flyers, each the size of a dollar bill, all over the floors. My thoughts (and those of other employees) ranged from "why are we littering?", to "I thought we were trying to be greener?", to "Oooh. OSHA incident just waiting to happen."

I had an interesting time explaining to the janitor who was servicing the restroom. No, today is not a holiday. No, they aren't special. Actually, I'm not sure what they mean.

What WERE they THINKing?

Lunches at this Company are usually pretty good. There are several cafeterias, including one in my building. Wednesday was an exception. (It doesn't help that the hot lunch choice on Wednesday is always "Masala"; as I'm allergic to curry, that's never an option.)

Several of my co-workers and I tried three different cafeterias. My eventual choice of sandwich was... uninspiring and unappetizing. It was supposed to be a toasted BLT with cheese, but the foccacia wasn't sufficiently toasted, the bacon was underdone, and the cheese didn't really melt. I ended up eating my "emergency" cup of yogurt and a cereal bar instead. Some days are like that.

Bebop and Mezzaluna had their annual vetdokter appointment on Friday. Moooooooo.

While we were waiting (we wait in the car), Bebop wanted to get out of the bag so I let him and held him on my lap and he looked out the windows. He alternated between "I want to go home", "I love you (bump!)" and "ooh, what's that?"

We get to go back on Tuesday to try to clean Bebop's teeth. Otherwise, both cats are in good shape and Bebop's weight is "perfect".

When we got home, Mezzaluna disappeared. Bebop was very snuggly for the rest of the day.

This week I read ... Walking Around Money, by Donald Westlake (in the collection, Transgressions, ed. by Ed McBain); On The Prowl, 4 paranormal romance shorts by Patricia Briggs, Eileen Wilks, Karen Chance, and Sunny; and Wait Until Midnight, by Amanda Quick (one of her best so far!).

In between and around the rest, I've had nearly enough naps and oodles of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. I've chatted with my sister and found topics to twitter.

Onward and Upward.
