Weekly Wrap-up 2008_12

The weather was chilly this week and Very Windy. Brrrr.

Squirrel was very bouncy on Saturday morning. The Crunchy Bowl was Empty! I went out to the living room and he was so excited. He Bounced into the air and turned and Bounced into the kitchen. Look! Look! The Bowl is Empty!

Last week we decided to upgrade to new hardware. On Saturday, we drove into SF to buy a G5 from someone who was selling it on craigslist. The seller lives near the Great Highway. We were early, so we parked at the beach and watched the parasailors and the kites. Wow! Neat!

One kite had a tail that must have been 30 feet long. It did great corkscrew swirls. The waves were white and the parasailors zipped back and forth.

We got to watch two of the parasailors come back in to the beach and fold up their sails. That was fun to see. They bend the sail a bit and it goes from a curve to more like an "M" shape and then it doesn't catch the wind. One guy just left his on the beach and went to put his board in his car.

I got out of the car to get a better look. The sail wobbled but didn't try to take off. Oof! it was Windy just standing at the wall! I got back in the car.

When we got home, I took a nap while Rich started setting up the new G5. (That was fair; I would be doing most of the software migration and upgrades.)

Saturday night, we moved our data and users to the new machine. Then the "fun" began. We were up till 3am on Saturday. Then I spent much of Sunday finishing getting email and web services working. Weblogs finally came back online Thursday night. Ouch.

This is "special": There are pages in the Main web of the Company TWiki named 'A' and 'SS'. Shudder. This makes for an interesting result when a page is moved and TWiki wants to link back to any references left behind: CMain.SS and QMain.A appear in the result. :-(

I am embarking on a mission of Education at the Company about what constitutes a good page name.

Rich's company had a going-away lunch for one of their VPs on Friday and then told everyone they could go home early for the Easter weekend. That was nice.

We had a late supper (10 pm) - bacon and tomato sandwiches. As is often the case, Bebop thought I should share.

No, he didn't want any bacon. He wanted little bits of mayonnaisey sourdough toast. He's a cat.

This week I read a couple of novella anthologies — nothing to write home about. I''m in the midst of some other books. There's not much time for reading when evenings are spent fixing the server. :(

In between and around the rest, I've still had nearly enough naps and oodles of snuggles with the cats (there are priorities). There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. I've chatted with my sister and (finally! Yes!) found topics to twitter. (I went close to a month without twittering; Yeek!)

Speaking of Twitter, if you use Mac OSX, the Twidget Dashboard widget has become my must-have choice for posting Twitter entries. Check it out.

Onward and Upward.
