Weekly Wrap-up 2007_47

The weather was pretty: blue sky, stripey clouds, cool.

Two days off from Work this week! Four-day weekend. Woo!!

There was a chartreuse green 1956 Nash Metropolitan at the curb when we were having breakfast on Saturday. Rich and I went out to admire it. When we came back in, we learned that the owner was eating breakfast at a table just inside the door.

Handsome car, sir!

Our local grocery store has finished with the exterior facade remodeling. No more plywood. There are windows again. Hoorah.

I've been installing a TWiki clone at the Job. This project has been fraught with small frustrations. I finally got it running on Tuesday. Win!

One of my co-workers, in last week's status report:

Worked with IT to rename laptop from "countryenemy" to "laughword"
I can see how that would be a better name...

A bus went by, painted with:

"World Savings Bank is now Wachovia"
I have to ask... Why? How is this "better"?

We had a quiet Thanksgiving. We went out to breakfast.

Unfortunately, they painted our favorite diner on Monday and Tuesday (closed for "maintenance") and it still reeked of paint on Thursday morning. All of the fans were on. We sat by the (open) front door. It was chilly but gradually didn't smell as bad. (We went back on Saturday morning and the smell was mostly gone.)

Friday was a company holiday but I worked on the new TWiki. I'll take some comp time the week of Christmas to make up for that/

Friday night we had our semi-traditional Thanksgiving holiday Peking duck dinner at a restaurant in Palo Alto.

The "Printers Cafe", down the street, was closing early, but a Starbucks was open. We got a vanilla steamed milk and a piece of gingerbread for desert.

This week I read The Sorceror's Academy, a "shared world" anthology edited by Denise Little. There are a few goofs in the shared reality, but by and large, this is a fun read.

In between and around the rest, I've had nearly enough naps and oodles of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. I've chatted with my sister and found topics to twitter.

Onward and Upward.
