Weekly Wrap-up 2007_42

It rained one day this week.

Up at 7:30 on Saturday morning We got ready to go and headed down to the diner for an omelette. Then we walked around the neighborhood for half an hour and then I took Rich to the airport. He was flying to Denver for a few days - a high-end audio show and a visit with friends.

I tripped over a cool feature in the vim editor. I was typing a comment (starting with #) and the line got long and broke to wrap (a setting I set). vim automatically put a # at the beginning of the next line.

Wow. Real DWIM.

On Sunday, when I took out the trash, I saw a big black beetle crossing the driveway. When I got too close, it would stop and raise its rear end. Pretty brave (or stupid) for something that small. Don't worry, beetle.

Awwwww. I may not have as many naps with the cats as I would like, but there are many times that the cats nap with me while I read on the couch.

I wrote up a weblog entry for Blog Action Day.

A recent thread in a discussion list where I work: "Is it polite to say 'bless you' anymore when people sneeze?" The primary question is, are there religious overtones (and if so, which religion(s)?"

One response, from a man whose last name is Blessing: "I think it's perfectly correct." My favorite response was: it's perfectly valid Perl syntax and I don't see why anyone would have a problem with Perl.

There was a hawk sitting on the edge of the roof of the building across the street from mine one morning as I walked from the shuttle. The crows were having a hissy fit. The hawk was ignoring the crows.

I downloaded, tried, and registered a lovely background sound applications called MindChimes. It's windchime sounds. Available for both Mac OS X and Windows.

There's an article about Facebook in the October issue of Wired. After reading the article, I created a Facebook profile. I'm afraid I'm somewhat underwhelmed.

This week I discovered that there are now dark chocolate Peanut M&Ms. Mmmmmmmmmm.

This week I finished The Gate of Gods, by Martha Wells. I had been putting off finishing it because I didn't want it to end. I also read The Decoy Princess, by Dawn Cook.

In between and around the rest, I've had nearly enough naps and oodles of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. I've chatted with my sister and found topics to twitter.

Onward and Upward.
