Weekly Wrap-up 2007_39

It's officially Fall. The weather has been lovely, sunny and blue, but sunrise is later and later. I hate waking up in the dark. I've started setting my "sun alarm".

I have a new, light-weight, portable hard drive. Yes, that's it in the picture to the right. It's the size of a (small) stack of 3x5 cards.

Rich wanted to upgrade his 40 GB iPod. I had a 60 GB iPod that I mostly use as an external hard drive. So I upgraded to a 160 GB drive (USB 2; bus-powered) and Rich will use my iPod. We both got a great deal.

This was my first week using it. For some reason two of my links were broken. Perhaps aliases don't work when copied? How very odd.

Otherwise, iTunes played. Email and IM work. Everything seems good. No other issues.

Ua2 Side Sm

I now have two bamboo plants on the window sill at The Job. Someone in another group didn't want them after a move.

Speaking of the Job, our cafeteria sometimes goes a little wild. On the menu this week: Grilled Snapper with Chocolate Mint Infused Orange Honeydew Salad on Wild and Brown Rice Blend with Dandelion Greens.

We had our monthly Beer and Scripting dinner at my favorite pizzeria. One woman ordered a "potatoes carbonara" appetizer. It was large enough for 5 people t have some. I'd never had potatoes carbonara. Wow, was it yummy. Covered in melted cheese.

This was Rich's first week at his new job. He survived :-)

The Company That Employs Me is in the process of migrating everyone from standard IMAP email to IMAP-via-Exchange. Six of us were migrated this week (the first in our team). As might be expected, things went wrong (even though, supposedly, the company is 70% along this path). There was plenty of advance notice and documentation. Unfortunately, the documentation was incorrect. Wrong server. Missing SSL information. Oops.

You would think they could get this right.

The ads that are generated for dictionary.com can be very amusing.

I don't think so.

This week I read Magic Study, a fantasy by Maria V. Snyder. I also read With This Ring and I Thee Wed, historical romance/mysteries by Amanda Quick.

We watched The Fifth Element on DVD; it was a lot of fun.

In between and around the rest, I've had almost enough naps and plenty of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals, interesting conversations with Spouse and friends, and chats with my sister.

Onward and Upward.
