Weekly Wrap-up 2007_16

The weather was mostly good. Windy. Rain on Thursday. The sun keeps rising earlier and setting later. This is my favorite time of year.

I joined the "after lunch stair walk" at work. One of my co-workers tries to do a daily walk, up to and around the 3rd floor twice, up to and around the 3rd floor twice, and then twice around the building outside. He's getting people to go with him. It's good exercise, although (huff) the 3rd floor (puff) is a challenge .

We ordered a flat panel (LCD) television (aka "DVD monitor"). We're upgrading from a 20-year old 27" CR-style. We can attach it to our current DVD player and the tv antennae and, eventually, the Mac mini.

Rich has been rearranging the "entertainment center", removing the upper shelves, strengthening the back, putting the components into the lower section...

We donated the old tv to a friend. We drove into SF with it; then she joined us for dinner.

Raven decided to try to get into the Mini Nook while I was otherwise occupied.

Raven? What are you doing?
(silence) (wait)
Not good. I blocked the door with a box (which he shifted) and then with the vacuum cleaner and told Rich I wanted to go to OSH after breakfast to look for latches.

Tuesday was quite windy. The ravens across the street were surfing the wind, obviously having a great time.

I saw a nifty bird out in the "Back Forty" on Saturday. It had big white patches on its wings. Then it landed and hopped up a tree trunk and started pecking a branch. A woodpecker!

Rich had a bunch of Ruby meetings this week, including a small 2-day conference over the weekend (held at The Tech museum in San Jose).

He bought a bag of polished magnetic rocks on Saturday, from the museum gift shop. They're lovely. They look like polished hematite and they stick to metal surfaces and each other.

This week I read The Silver Crown, by Robert C. O'Brien and Shoot From the Lip, a "Yellow Rose mystery" by Leann Sweeney.

In between and around the rest, I've had almost enough naps and plenty of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals, interesting conversations with Spouse and friends., and email with my Mom.

Onward and Upward.
