Weekly Wrap-up 2007_15

The weather was variable. We had some rain, some clear days, lots of wind...

Rich helped me put together a "cubicle curtain". We bought a large, tight spring and a length of dowel rod. Rich mounted the spring on a board and attached magnet tape to the underside. The dowel slips into the end of the spring and I can hang a curtain on the dowel. because of the spring, if anyone walks into it, it will move.

I did a web search for curtains, then purchased a Noren Japanese curtain panel from Shibori Dragon. The panel wasn't hemmed, so I applied Fray Check, folded the edges under, then sealed them with iron-on binding tape. The result is very nice.

While I was working with the curtain, I spent some time in a small storage area where the sewing machine is kept. Raven was not happy about this. He pawed at the (louvered) doors until he got them mostly open and got his head through and ... I rescued him and left the room, then I told Rich we needed better latches, inside and out.

So, we went to the hardware store and bought some latches that the furry children cannot manipulate. Rich installed one on each side. Raven is just as unhappy if I go into that room, but he's less likely to get the door (even part-way) open now.

I've started a weekly "productivity tips and training" meeting at the Job. So far, I've done two TWiki Basics "classes". Other sessions will focus on email, time management, writing skills, Mac applications, or something in that realm...

We practiced Discardia last week.. Rich emptied out the black 4-drawer filing cabinet in the garage and offered it on Freecycle. We also found a new home for some office supplies, books, and clothing. We've been going through old video tapes and plan to jettison many of those as well.

Friday was the 13th. This is Good luck when the black cat that crosses your path does so regularly!

We did Rich's taxes (whoo hoo). And we finished on Sunday night, so we weren't caught in the Intuit Server Snafu.

We had a raccoon walking about on the sunroom roof Sunday night after we came in from the hot tub. Then he came down, walked across the deck, streetttcched up and climbed up the fence, up and over and off on the next errand.

This week I read The Wizard of London, an excellent addition to Mercedes Lackey's "Elemental Masters" series. I thought this was one of her best, with great characters. I was also interested to note that it began with what she wrote as a short story 10 or 15 years ago for Marion Zimmer Bradley's Fantasy Magazine.

I also read Sex, Murder, and a Double Latte, a first novel by Kyra Davis. It was a bit bumpy in spots, but overall enjoyable with interesting people and a twisty plot.

In between and around the rest, I've had almost enough naps and plenty of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. I've exchanged email with my Mom and sister.

Onward and Upward.
