Weekly Wrap-up 2007_

The weather dipped into the low 40's and possibly the 30's a few times and we've had morning frost. That's pretty, but not good for the plants. We covered the jade plants for several days (and nights).

Monday was a holiday so I had a nice three-day weekend. Rich was out of town. The cats and I enjoyed the time in our favorite ways - napping, cuddling, hugging. I did some reading (when the cats allowed).

We stopped into the hardware store on Sunday to get me a new pocket knife. The little metal spring had sprung (and sproinged; we couldn't find it) so the knife and file weren't closing properly.

There were 5 different pegs holding small knives: three "classic" (red, black, or blue) and two "signature" (sapphire or ruby, translucent plastic). All three "Classics" were marked $14.99 as was the "Sapphire". The "ruby"was marked $19.99. All have 5 "tools"; the ruby and sapphire substitute a ballpoint pen for a toothpick.

The pricing seemed wrong. $5 more just for a different color? But the clerk shrugged and the manager didn't seem to care (and said that if that's what the shelf said, that was what the vendor said).

So, because I really like translucent red, I decided to get the "ruby" knife. The register rang up $6.89. Plus tax. Uhuh. Well, that must be what the vendor said.

This week I read Curiosity Killed the Cat Sitter, first in a new cozy mystery series by Blaize Clement, and Eye of Heaven, a "Dirk and Steele" (paranormal mystery romance) novel by Marjorie M. Liu.

Liu is masterful in merging espionage, romance, and the supernatural into fiction that goes far beyond the boundaries of action-adventure romance or romantic suspense." ~ Booklist

In between and around the rest, I've had almost enough naps and plenty of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. I've ridden the train back and forth to the Job...

Onward and Upward.
