Weekly Wrap-up 2006_36

What better way to start a week than with a holiday Monday.

Happy birthday to my sister. Which 35th birthday is this?

I came down with a cold on Saturday and kept it through most of the week. So, I worked at home when I could and then napped in the afternoon.

Nyquil is good medicine.

I went into the Job on Thursday. I made it through most of the day but I was really flagging by 3 so I decided to head home early. That's too early for the CalTrain shuttle but there's a VTA light rail stop half a mile from where I work, so I headed out in plenty of time to walk down the street.

Light Rail is fun. We went past Moffett Field and the giant hangers. The fare is free for people with a 2-zone monthly CalTrain pass. I was in plenty of time for the next train north.

That train was a "local" however, not an express, and it also proceeded to have electromechanical problems (at every other stop, the power went out and the train had to be "rebooted"). Also, this is September and many high school students ride the train. They were noisy and bored. Several of them were clambering up and down from the first to the second levels of the car. It was a long, strange trip.

I just sat and let everything swirl around me. Colds are like that.

The shopping center near our house is undergoing renovation. Everything but the grocery store was cleared out and fenced off back in May. The plan is to keep (and remodel) the grocery store, while tearing down the rest of the buildings to put in a small housing development.

Deconstruction finally started this week. We watched two large earth movers munching and chomping. I had been wondering when they'd start. It's been fenced off for months with no apparent activity and October is toften the start of the Wet season here.

This week I read Buried in Quilts and Murder & Sullivan, two mysteries by Sarah Hoskinson Frommer .

In between and around the rest, I've had almost enough naps and plenty of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. I had an eChat with my sister while she was visiting our parents in PA over her birthday.

Onward and Upward.
