Weekly Wrap-up 2006_35

The weather was nice all week, although it's obviously not summer anymore. The sun is rising later and later every morning (and I tend to wake up better when there's light outside).

In response, I decided to change my schedule. I've started waking up one hour later and taking a later train. I experimented on Tuesday and started the new schedule on Thursday. So far, it's working very well.

Summer is officially over. The local kids started their new school year on Thursday. I have very mixed feelings, and memories, about school.

After 12 weeks on The Job, I am finally scheduled to get a Mac. I filed a request with IT and escalated the problem up to the senior director (who approved the request).

Nothing had happened by end of day Thursday (which, according to the information in the request ticket, means they've slipped by 4 hours). I worked at home Friday. If there's no action on Monday morning, I'll contact the senior director again. She asked me to let her know if the situation was still unresolved by Thursday afternoon.

My contract has officially been extended into October. I had my badge updated (otherwise it wouldn't have worked on Monday morning.)

Rich and I had dinner with friends at a newly opened Chinese buffet restaurant. I rather liked it - all the cocktail shrimp I could possibly want. Rich was less impressed ("mediocre food and plenty of it"). He's not as much of a shrimp fan as I am.

I'm still in the middle of one books I was reading last week, and I finished Unexpected Magic an anthology by Dianna Wynne Jones (which I bought mostly for the cover but enjoyed the stories inside. :-)

In between and around the rest, I've had almost enough naps and plenty of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends.

Onward and Upward.
