Carnivore Palace Restaurant

My Work Group had lunch at a local restaurant as a sendoff for a team member who is moving to another group within the Company. We ate at a Korean BBQ buffet where you cook at your table.

Left to my own devices, I probably would have just eaten food from the buffet. I don't really "get" the idea of going out to eat and cooking - I go out so I don't have to cook. However, one of my co-workers took on the responsibility of grill chef for the table so I had various bits of grilled meat. They were tasty.

Most of the food was tasty and I particularly liked the glass noodles. There was one very unusual thing about the restaurant, however, that disturbed me.

One of our co-workers is Vegetarian. The rest of us, naively, assumed there would be things for her to eat. After all, this is a buffet. Several other co-workers had been to this place before. They had seen tofu, vegetable and noodle dishes, and eggrolls.

It's best not to make assumptions, even when they are based on past experience elsewhere.

This is the first time I can remember where I have had an eggroll stuffed with ground beef. There was ground meat in the tofu dish. There were strips of beef in the "Vegetable Delight".

Our co-worker eventually got enough to eat (including salads donated by four people at our table) but she was disappointed. I was confused. After all, with a grill at each table and 10 linear feet of raw and marinated meat to choose from, wouldn't it make more sense to make all of the side dishes meatless? Then people could mix and match and choose. How odd.
