Weekly Wrap-up 2006_34

Week 11 on The Job. Plans to convert me to FTE proceed with typical corporate glacial speed. Apparently I have to have my contract extended first; the terms of the contract don't allow me to convert until I've worked for at least 90 business days. (Actually, I can convert, but there would be a fine. Apparently it's cheaper for the Company to extend the contract.)

From my perspective, it doesn't much matter if I'm considered an employee of the Company or of an Agency. I don't mind filing a time card (although I do tend to forget until Monday morning). I don't need medical insurance and I don't want stock. I do, however, need a Mac on my desk.

SOON.

The Company gardeners have cut back all of the blue flower stalks around the building where I work. I was a little worried for the hummingbirds and spiders, but the hummers seem to like the daylilies (still in bloom). I also saw 4 big spiders, each one 8 feet off the ground, suspended between a pair of funny trees (8 feet or more apart). I guess some of them have found new places to build their webs.

We held our regular"Beer and Scripting" get-together in The City. We were the only attendees this week, but we had a good dinner. That's why we choose a restaurant we like. :-)

This week I read Manor of Death by Leslie Caine, and X-Men: Dark Mirror by Marjorie Liu.

In between and around the rest, I've had almost enough naps and plenty of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. I've exchanged email with my Dad because I've been away from IM a lot.

Onward and Upward.
