Weekly Wrap-up 2006_30

The weather started out hot) at the beginning of the week but ended much cooler, thank goodness.

Rich and I met for dinner in Mountain View on Monday after (my) job and (his) meeting. We walked up Castro St. looking for a place to eat. Most of the restaurants were without power! We finally found one that was open, in almost the last block.

Later, I learned that some 60,000 people in Santa Clara county were without power from Sunday night through part of Tuesday. Ugh! Apparently a lot of transformers couldn't handle the load.

I am once again able to walk from the first shuttle stop to my building in the mornings; it's cool enough and I'm not limping anymore (rah!).

On the marquee at a motel I passed, driving home from the train station

We All Smille In The Same Language.

(And what language would that be? :-)

One of the Thursday conductors on CalTrain knows some ASL so we had a three-way conversation for a bit. My deaf friend was having a great time.

In the news:

PC users don't really get the Mac, and have never gotten the Mac.
I've thought that for a long time.

I've been playing with various web-based content management systems. I especially like Pivot and Brim (nee' Booby). Note to Self and My Sonet both show promise, although I would prefer if Note to Self didn't require a MySQL database.

This week I probably read something, but I didn't finish anything.

In between and around the rest, I've had almost enough naps and plenty of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. I've had a few chats with my Dad; my Mom is still deep in her summer work.

Onward and Upward.
