Weekly Wrap-up 2006_28

The weather was very pleasant this week.

I've had lots of work to do for the job. I enjoy editing documents and re-organizing the TWiki to be more accessible.

I got a nice compliment. One of my co-workers came by and thanked me for the work I did the previous afternoon on his proposal document. He said "I expected to be up half the night working on it and I looked at what you did and I didn't have to change anything".

Rich picked me up after work on Monday as has become our regular custom. We drove up to Fry's Electronics in Palo Alto, then had dinner at the Fish Market. After dinner we went to Whole Foods Market. Quite a nifty place that! I bought some delicious trail mix with cranberries, nuts, and dried papaya, and (ahem) three cookies. The bakery dept in Whole Foods is awesome.

We'll be going back. :-)

I've started using ShadowPlan on the Palm (instead of ListPro). ShadowPlan is more complex and a little harder to get used to, but it has a Mac OS X desktop application and a LOT more capabilities once I understood them. Also, I really like the use of color in the interface. AND it uses Font Bucket fonts.

In the newspaper (SF Chronicle) Gavin Newsom, SF mayor, is going after the 2016 Olympics... except that someone failed to preafrood the Chron this morning and the headline (in half-inch type) said OYIMPIC.

In the mornings, I've been sitting next to (or, when possible, opposite) the deaf woman I met in the train last week. We "chat". My ASL is getting better again.

When I got home on Thursday evening, Rich met me at the door. It seems a friend of ours was "stuck" at the BART/CalTrain station. He had planned on going to a meeting in the South Bay but missed his connection.

So Rich went to pick him up while I soaked my (still) sore toe. Then we went to Pasta Pomodoro for a very nice dinner. Afterwards, we drove our friend to the BART station so he could ride home. He agreed that it was a nice serendipity - no meeting, but a good dinner with friends in place of that.

I had a nice "up close and personal" encounter with a hummingbird while waiting for the afternoon shuttle to the train station one afternoon. He hovered about 18 inches from my face and cocked hs head and looked at me. I so want to be like a Disney princess at times like that and have the little birds land on my hands.

I stopped into Trader Joe's on the way home on Friday and bought dried cranberries and a few other interesting things: a bag of "Golden Berry Blend" (dried golden raisins, cranberries, cherries, and blueberries; yummy!), a box of Kashi 7 whole-grain flakes ("new" and tasty. I like these!) and (ahem) 4 "mini carrot cakes (i.e. carrot muffins with cream cheese frosting).

I mixed the Kashi flakes and some of the "golden berry blend" with Kashi GoLean and GoLean Crunch to make a more interesting and tasty breakfast cereal.

This week I read Murder in C Major, a mystery by Sara Hoskinson Frommer (I've ordered the rest of the series) and Raven's Shadow, a fantasy by Patricia Briggs. , by .

In between and around the rest, I've had not nearly enough naps and as many snuggles as possible with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. My Mom is still busy with her summer work and I'm too tired in the evening to log in to "chat".

Onward and Upward.
