Weekly Wrap-up 2006_07

The weather was fair and cool for the beginning of the week, darkening on Friday and whipping up a northern storm front (with pea-sized hail mixed into rain) for Saturday. Yikes!

The people with the job I want have been checking my references... No other news on that front.

MacOS 10.4.5 is out. Nothing particularly mentionable (nothing peculiar to note). I updated.

In case anyone asks about the "virus" that's supposedly available for MacOS X, it requires a lot of human help. It claims to be a picture but, when you click on it, it launches an application (?) which asks for your Admin password (Duh!). If you get farther than that, perhaps you deserve to send it on to your iChat buddies...

Mezzy had her annual vetdokter appt this week. She decided to pretend she wasn't there. She was a very quiet lump the whole way down and the whole way back (and in the office). The vet says she's in good shape. Mez says I could just have asked her and saved a trip!

I really like the little self-serve package mailing kiosk at the Post Office. It won't accept media mail (people cheat; sigh). And I wish they had Priority Mail tape or stickers handy (although I expect people, or the wind, would scatter those around the vestibule. Still, it's convenient to go in after hours and mail a package. I've even used this when the PO is open if the lines are too long.

One year ago this week I upgraded to Eudora 6.2 and discovered the "drawer". I've been using it a lot over the past year. I really like it. It's got a few glitches but over all it's very handy.

This week I finished We, The Media, by Dan Gillmor and The Weblog Handbook, by Rebecca Blood. I also read The Thief Who Couldn't Sleep, the first Evan Tanner novel by Lawrence Block. Evan has very interesting adventures. It's surprising they don't get him killed. Fun stuff.

In between and around the rest, I've had almost enough naps and plenty of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals (as well as one highly mediocre attempt at a local pizzeria. :-( There have been interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. I've had a few chats with my Dad (although we didn't solve the email problem) and exchanged email with my Mom.

Onward and Upward.
