Weekly Wrap-up 2005_47

It's been a very quiet week. That comes from having a cold all week. My mind gets muffled in cotton. All I want to do is sleep.

I spent most of the week reading, eating (sharing turkey with Bebop), and napping. In other words, practicing being a cat. The cats approved.

We had rain this week, mostly at night. Winter is a-coomin in.

We "hosted" a Ruby and Perl programmers "meet-up" in San Francisco on Tuesday night. "Hosted" here means we announced the location, took RSVPs, and called the restaurant.

There were 17 RSVPs but 5 no-shows (plus one guy who came but hadn't told Rich before hand). We ended up having one long table of 13. The restaurant originally planned a table for 10 and another for 6 but the 10th and 11th people came in together, so we added space for #11. Then #12 and #13 were very late. #13 didn't eat so he sat at the end where he took up less room.

Food and conversation were both good. The restaurant is one we like a lot. It's run by the Delancey Street Foundation.

This week I read Triple Witch and Wicked Fix, by Sarah Graves (check these out!); Hostile Makeover, a Lacey Smithsonian "Crime of Fashion" mystery by Ellen Byerrum (light and fun); Azure Like It, a very light romantic comedy by Wendy Holden; and three Diane Mott Davidson catering mysteries: The Last Suppers, Killer Pancake, and The Main Corpse.

I also watched a couple of videos. I watched "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" (I've seen it before; it was just as much fun the second time) I also watched Disney's "A Wrinkle in Time". This is an adaptation of one of my favorite books. The screenplay was very well-done with excellent casting (other than the fact that Meg-in-the-movie didn't wear glasses).

In between and around the rest, I've had almost enough naps and plenty of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends.

No job offers yet.

Onward and Upward.
