Weekly Wrap-up 2005_36
Sunday was September 11. Take a moment to reflect.
The weather was mostly pretty last week, tending toward cooler and windy in the afternoons. We had a couple of grey days in the middle where it looked like it wanted to rain, but it didn't, then back to blue and sunny
Fall is approaching. The days are getting shorter. It's getting dark by 7:30. It's cooler. With luck, we'll have a few more summery days this month or next.
Rich channeled Harry Homeowner a bit this week, doing miscellaneous odd jobs. The oddest was the addition of a 12-foot extension pole to the hedge trimmer :-)
The best news of the week was the arrival of my new PowerMac G5 on Tuesday afternoon! By Wednesday night (after a few false starts) I was all switched over and running on the new system.
I have subscribed to Scientific American's online version (sciamdigital.com). Now I can access the contents of any issue from 1993 to the present.
Unlike Science News, you're not required to be a subscriber to the paper version in order to subscribe to the online version. On the other hand, subscribers to the paper version don't automatically get a discount online either. I complained about the latter and received a $5 promotion code. Thanks!
Have you tried the dark chocolate M&Ms? I think they were a limited edition; they came out with the last Star Wars movie (the dark are labeled "Darth Mix"). I've been buying up any that I can find. If you see them, try a bag!
I now have plastic "boxes" under the ends of my desks. The drawers don't meet the floor ar each end; the boxes fit in that space between drawer and floor.
I used Sterilite plastic "drawers" but they were a bit too tall for the space, so Rich helped me re-work them into "lidded boxes". Now I can use what would otherwise be dead space (accumulating dust moosies) as active storage.
This week I read the thoroughly delightful Shall We Dance, by Kasey Michaels as well as Adjusted to Death, the first in a series by Jaqueline Girdner.
In between and around the rest, I've had almost enough naps and plenty of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. I've had a few chats with my Dad and exchanged email with my Mom and sister (well, I sent; I am awaiting the replies.)
Onward and Upward.
