Weekly Wrap-up 2005_31

Eek! It's August.

The weather has been nice during the afternoon, but very foggy in the mornings and evenings. Oh well, at least it's not hot. (I grew up in central PA where August was hot and muggy).

We had a small medical emergency this week. I was out for a meeting on Wednesday and, when I got home at lunch, Rich was on the phone with his brother-in-law Bill, an RN. Rich had gouged his finger on a piece of yard equipment working in the Back 40 and was wondering if maybe it should be looked at. Bill said that wouldn't be a bad idea, so...

I drove us down to our medical center where a nice doctor put 6 stitches in Rich's finger (Ouch!) and said "Don't get it wet for 10 days, then come back and we'll take the stitches out". This took (we're convinced) much less time and certainly less hassle than it would have taken to go to the Emergency Room at the "nearer" hospital.

Afterward, being as we were so near, we had lunch at a favorite restaurant. Then I drove us home and went back to work.

Harry Homeowner took a well-deserved rest for a couple of days but he was back in action on Sunday, working on a new temperature-controlled fan assembly for the screen porch.

This week I read Fantastic Four, the movie novelization by Peter David (no I haven't seen the movie yet) and Styx and Stones, the 7th Daisy Dalrymple mystery by Carola Dunn. I also read Cruel and Unusual Intuition, an "alternative healers mystery" by Claire Daniels. This had an interesting premise and was well-plotted. I ordered the other two in the series.

In between and around the rest, I've had almost enough naps and plenty of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends.

Onward and Upward.
