Weekly Wrap-up (Dec. 6 - 12)
This week was much warmer and wetter. It started to rain about 5pm on Monday and rained on and off for the next few days. Thursday and Friday we had heavy fog. Saturday and Sunday were mostly grey but neither rain nor fog.
The parking lot behind the Company was a real mess on Tuesday morning after the rain. The parking lot is surrounded with eucalyptus trees and the storm brought down leaves, pods, and long strips of bark.
Rich brought home half a turkey from his visit to Forestville so on Tuesday night we had turkey dinner. I made cauliflower w/ cheese sauce, baked sweet potatoes, and mashed potatoes (in case our friend Gene came for dinner; he didn't; he didn't feel well, so we took a plate over to him afterwards).
The gravy was Franco American turkey gravy from a jar but I thought it was very good for bottled gravy (Rich forgot to bring any gravy back from Forestville). We also had cranberry sauce and the very last of the cranberry jello.
I had turkey reprise for lunch on Wednesday and Thursday and Rich and I had turkey sandwiches for dinner on Thursday and Saturday. Yummmm.
When I went to the grocery store on Thursday afternoon to pick up bread for supper there were two spaces in the parking lot in the row where I like to park, separated by one car (a champagne-colored Buick). A woman had just come to get in that car; I was going to wait, then I decided to just back up and take the other space. As I started to back up, the woman paused, shrugged, and walked around the back of the car. I thought... is she going to open the passenger side?. But no, she crossed the other space and put her key in the next car down... also a champagne-colored Buick! ;-) Oops.
I parked (in the other space ;-), then got out and tapped on her window. She rolled down the window and I told her about a friend of mine who had that happen once with a rental car - only his key fit! She said the same thing happened to a friend of hers, a Catholic priest. He was starting to back up and a woman tapped on the window and said "Father, you're driving my car!". He said "I can't be!" (it must be my car; the key fits :-)
Rich went in to his Job on Saturday and Sunday. He's got jury duty this coming Wednesday and if he's selected, that would mess up some work days. And the Lab is doing a year-end shutdown the last two weeks of December. So he decided to put the hours in ahead of time, just in case.
I've been (slowly) reading The High Lord. third in the trilogy by Trudi Canavan. The story is good and interesting, as well as a bit intense and very busy at this point; I don't want it to be over too soon.
In between and around the rest, I've had a few naps as well as several good meals, including dinner with a friend we don't see very often and dinner at Chevy's for cranberry margaritas (my favorite!). I've chatted with my Dad, kept my journal approximately up to date, posted a couple of weblog entries, and snuggled with the cats (lots of snuggles with the cats :-).
Onward and Upward.
