Treasures 2004_11

Treasures are positive things that strike my fancy, things that make me feel happy or thankful or interested, things that are worth remembering. Treasures are memories encapsulated in just a few words.

I gather my treasures throughout the week. Please feel free to start your own lists of Treasures on your own weblog or here in the comments.

My treasures for the past week include

  • Raven, in the middle of the night, hopping onto the bed and then my chest to purr and be snuggled for a while. This is common for the other cats but it's a first for Raven. I guess our nap sessions are paying off - giving him ideas for night time snugglefests.
  • Another lovely warm sunny day. Front windows open; cats enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells of spring.
  • A Very Large Green Dinosaur in the school parking lot across the street, as well as a Very Large Yellow Whatisit! Apparently one or more of the classes had a special visit today from two large foam characters (who then walked back to the parking lot in full costume and removed heads and suits at their cars (while I watched). I don't know what the yellow one was, a dog? Pointy ears and a big pink nose. The green one was a dino. Cute!!
  • Our Whirlpool dryer (purchased new in January). Clothes go in damp from the washer and come out dry - every time! Until you've struggled with a dryer that didn't do that, you don't understand what a treasure that is!
  • Giving Raven a ride in the laundry (in the laundry basket)
  • The woman in the makeup half mask at Joe's of Westlake on Thursday night!
  • A young man, walking along the street, carrying a tray of... bobblehead dogs?!
  • A bright orange, tangerine actually, '56 Chevy, reflecting the sun as it drove through the intersection in front of us.
  • Running into a friend in San Francisco (she's from Berkeley, half an hour in the opposite direction, and we rarely see her); what a nice surprise!
  • Red and yellow tulips in a yard we passed coming home after breakfast.
  • Discovering on Saturday night at the bookstore that the big green and yellow foam creatures spied earlier in the week were Bailey Bookmark and Rex Reader from bookadventure.org
  • Lemon Angelfood cake with strawberries
