Treasures 2004_07

Treasures are positive things that strike my fancy, things that make me feel happy or thankful or interested, things that are worth remembering. Treasures are memories encapsulated in just a few words.

I gather my treasures through out the week. Please feel free to start your own lists of Treasures on your own weblog or here in the comments.

My treasures for the past week include

  • A drive into the country last weekend. Redtailed hawks, greening hillsides, a small group of goats, one sheep, and oodles of winter woolly cows basking in the sun; some of the cows were lying on the grass, all flopped out, _really_ enjoying the sun (I didn't know cows did that!)

  • Watching kitties watch grey squirrels; racing back and forth across the screen porch - one g.s. outside, three pussycats inside; the pitter patter of many little feet!

  • A spectacular orange sunrise. If I have to be up at that time of morning, a good sunrise is a delightful recompense. Bright orangey red as if the sky was on fire; I watched for 20 minutes as it slowly fade through tangerine to lemon to pale blue.

  • Cat tummies on the floor when I least expect it! (Cat tummies on the floor when I most expect it :-) Cat tummies!!

  • A noticeable (slow but visible) weight loss

  • Flowering trees! Yellow, white, and pink blossoms by the roadside. The yellow are especially jubilant, ebullient, and puffy.

  • Mezzaluna. Mez had her annual checkup today; the vet says she's perfect. The yearly "well kitty" exams remind me how treasured all my furries are. Mezzaluna says she knew she was perfect and would have told us if we had just asked. She didn't have to _go_ anywhere to find that out!

  • Raven sniffing Mezzaluna when we got home from the vetdoctor. Mezzaluna _letting_ Raven sniff her (and sniffing him back). No hissing or swatting. A moment to savor.

  • Raven following me around the house, asking would I please pick him up for a snuggle, please?

  • Bebumps - well, I didn't really need to be typing at that moment.

  • Bebop tight against my head, purring in my ear during a late afternoon rest break.

  • Squirrel curled in a furry lump on my pillow, enjoying his afternoon nap.

  • A good start in re-finishing the kitchen and dining room floors; Rich's great new chop saw; the delightfully effective lowtech "stomping" tool Rich made; the new glides for the glass display cabinet; the mere fact that we're finally doing this project and it's going to look GOOD when we're done!
