"A Home without a cat, and a well-fed, well-petted and properly revered cat, may be a perfect home, perhaps, but how can it prove it's title?" — Mark Twain

About and Interests

One of the more popular things that has shown up on numerous web sites is the personal information. You don't have to be a famous person to write your autobiography (whether anyone will read it is another story). On the web, you don't even have to worry about finding a publisher! Everyone has the chance to tell total strangers something about themselves.

Personally, I rather like reading the "About Me" parts of the pages I come across. It's kind of fun to "meet" all these different people and find out where they grew up, where they went to school, what they like to do. Then again, you may not think so; if that's the case, feel free to move on. I won't mind.

Biography

I've been interested in technology and science since Elementary school. I took my first computer programming class (FORTRAN) in High School. I have a Masters Degree in Science (Microbiology), but I'm a writer, toolsmith, and web spinner by profession and preference.

I work for a Web Services company in Silicon Valley, California. I am presently employed as a documentation specialist, content manager, and TWiki Champion. I have, at various times, worked as a Unix script wizard, Quality Lead, Scientific programmer, Webmaster, and Technical writer.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, near a couple of nature preserves and hiking trails. We have raccoons, occasional skunks, and once an oppossum in our back yard, as well as birds and (recently, after 15 years!) tree squirrels. The climate is lovely, as is the view.

We have no human children but we do have four happy feline furkids we call the Heatercats. The photo above is of Bebop, our eldest Maine Coon and "Cat-in-Charge", enjoying our enclosed garden under supervision.

Aspects of Myself

The 100 Things About Me list seems to be an increasingly popular web meme. Never one to leave well-enough alone, I've also modified the format into categories. There are fewer than 100 categories but well over 100 items. I call the resulting list Aspects of Myself. I consider it to be a work in progress (as am I).

Places I've Been

I was born and raised in Pennsylvania. I lived in Connecticut for 6 months and Maryland for two years. And now I live in California.

Although I'm not a world traveler, I've visited a surprising (to me) number of US States and also several European countries and parts of the UK.
