Dollhouse miniatures

I started collecting 1:12 scale miniatures (1 inch = 1 foot) when I was a little girl. I got my first dollhouse at a garage sale when I was 18. It was a 3' x 3' Colonial Saltbox shell - I papered and painted the interior, attached "siding" to the exterior, and remodeled the interior space to give it more rooms.

Bookcase

When I moved to California, I left that house behind; the original furnishings now occupy 4 rooms in a glass-fronted barrister's chest.

Elmwood Manor

My next ("real") dollhouse is Elmwood Manor, a 2-story (plus attic) 10-room "bungalow"-style house. The exterior styling of the house reminds me of the one I grew up in. The pictures below are all from Elmwood Manor:

I stopped collecting miniatures in 1994. Nevertheless, Elmwood Manor is still one of my prized possessions, stored safely in a small room where the cats never go.
