Lions and Leopards and Lynx, Oh My!
I love cats. That goes for wild cats too (although I wouldn't want one in
my house (even if they were legal without a special license :-)
However, I love to see them and I have great respect for the people who
work to conserve these beautiful creatures, these "big kitties".
Two of those people are Rob and Barbara Dicely of Leopards, Etc in Sonoma County, CA. Leopards, Etc. is licensed by the State of California, the US Dept. of the Interior, and various other governmental organizations to keep, train, breed and show wild cats.
Rob and Barbara have 24 cats on their 20-acre property. While they don't have any African Lions but they do have a Mountain Lion, or Cougar, named Lakota.
Rob and Barbara are very busy, dedicated people, presenting 150 educational outreach programs a year, mostly at school assemblies and private/corporate events.
They also do 4 or more public programs called "Wild Cat Adventure". We've been to two of these programs so far; we expect to attend more. If you're interested, you may want to read my "up close and purrsonal" reports:
Wild Cat Adventure I (April 23, 2003)
Wild Cat Adventure II (Jaunary 25, 2004)
Wild Cat Adventure III (March 28, 2004)
